Reflect, reset, and soothe your way into the week.
Welcome to Sunday Soothies, where we say ‘heyyy’ to Sunday Scaries and then get back to what matters most in our life. Cozy up with your favorite drink for some tips, tricks, and community to soothe your way into your upcoming week!

Be kind to your body. Do you tend to beat your body up and say it’s not good enough? Try this: write down a few things your mind has to say about your body. Next to that in another column, write down a few things that your body has to say about your mind. Taking this different perspective can be very illuminating, and I hope a little healing too.
Make peace with food. Food has been the enemy for far too long! As an eating disorder therapist, not many people come to see me because they have a bad relationship with kale. It’s usually the foods we demonize and have been told by Diet Culture that they are bad! Try this: change your narrative and challenge the food police. No food is forbidden, therefore no food has a magical grip on your brain all day long.
Choose exercise that is for and with your body. So often, we want to choose movement that we do to and on our bodies. This can leave us feeling like exercise is complicated, hard, stressful, and for the sole purpose of aesthetics. Bring the joy back to moving your body!

Committed Action of the Week:
I will say yes to my commitments outside of work and prioritize learning and growing in other domains of my life.

The Last American Man by Elizabeth Gilbert | Okay fellas, this book is Eat, Pray, Love but for outdoorsy dudes. I loved this read. This is a biography of North Carolina outdoorsman, Eustace Conway. At the age of 17, he left home to live in the woods and never turned back. Note to self, read more biography books about cool people!

Beyonce’s new song! | Queen Bey does it again with this catchy song, Texas Hold ‘Em.
PS: Happy Texas Independence Day (3.2.1836)! Or in my household, happy anniversary to me and the hubs!

Coach Kim Mulkey’s post-game interview | A few weeks ago, LSU women’s basketball star Hailey Van Lith had a heck of a game after being off for a few. Coach Kim Mulkey had some great words that I think are relevant to all the people-pleasers out there: “Be you. Do you”. Check out this clip for a minute or two and take the advice into your own life this week.
