Reflect, reset, and soothe your way into the week.
Welcome to Sunday Soothies, where we say ‘heyyy’ to Sunday Scaries and then get back to what matters most in our life. Cozy up with your favorite drink for some tips, tricks, and community to soothe your way into your upcoming week!

Use the pace of your breath to set the pace of your body. Feeling tired and need to focus? Make your exhales shorter than your inhales (think warming up for a sprint). Feeling overstimulated and need to calm back down? Make your exhales longer than your inhales (inhale for 4, exhale for 8). Need to stay in a steady state? Make your exhales match your inhales (think box breathing or 4 seconds in, hold for 4, 4 seconds out).
Ask yourself first before you ask anyone or anything else. A trend I am seeing is our lack of truly knowing and trusting ourselves. We outsource our wisdom so frequently. We Google for the right answer, we ask what other people do, or we check out trends on Pinterest for outfits before we know what our own style is. Sound familiar? Try this next week: check in with you first. Jot a few things down that come from your mind and your heart. Take action on your wisdom and watch your self-trust grow like a freshly planted flower.
Refresh your space. Hello spring, hello clean! Time to donate old clothes, update the socks with the holes, or finally organize the kitchen utensil drawer so it opens with ease. Want a quick and easy kickstart? Change out one item you use daily. I swapped my go-to coffee mug for one with a bright and spring-filled vibe.

My new mug for the week. She’s a beaut. 💛

Committed Action of the Week:
I will breathe for the pace that I want, not the other way around.

Romanticize Your Sundays | I liked this article that gives you 20 ideas for ways to romanticize your Sundays to get you out of the Sunday Scaries. A road trip to a small Texas town sounds like a good Sunday Funday idea!

The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry on Audiobook | Back in my prime, I was a 3x Olympic gold medalist at Hustle Culture. Now that I’m retired, I’m finally not tired all the time, hah! This read hits home and details the actual impact of our non-stop culture. PS: this book is written by a pastor at a Christian church out of Oregon, so the messaging is from a religious lens, and less from a secular one, just FYI!

A 6-month online training on grief and loss | I am currently undertaking a big work project, a 6-month training with Megan Devine, LPC on all things grief and loss! It’s weird to use the word excited here given the topic, so I will say that I am looking forward to all the tools to help those who are grieving, no matter how big or small the loss may be. Megan’s book, It’s OK That You’re Not OK, is such a great read for grievers and grief-supporters alike.
